After an
absence of three years, the iconic Tio Pepe illuminated sign will shine down on
revellers in Madrid’s Puerta del Sol as they bring in the New Year to the sound
of the bells tonight. This will be the sign’s eightieth birthday (well nearly), and
Madrileños will likely also raise a glass to welcome it back. Let us hope that glass contains Sherry!
